Product description
What is Calabrian piretta
Piretta (Citrus limetta) is a citrus fruit typical of Southern Italy, known by many names: limetta, sweet lemon, limonetta. On the outside it looks like a lemon, with yellow peel and the characteristic "nipple" at the tip, but inside it is a different story: the flesh is juicy, sweet and low in acidity.
Please note: we sell fresh piretta fruit, picked from our citrus grove, not plants.
What it tastes like
The taste is delicate and sweet, with a very slight bitter note at the end. The peel is intensely fragrant thanks to its essential oils: peeling just one is enough to scent the whole kitchen.
How to eat it
- Fresh, in segments, like an orange.
- Juiced, on its own or with oranges and clementines: the juice is sweet and needs no sugar.
- In the kitchen, in salads, fruit salads and desserts, or grate the peel to flavour creams and doughs.
When it is in season
Piretta ripens in autumn and winter. We only pick it when it is ready, so it is available for a limited time: if it is sold out, leave your email with "Notify me when available" and we will write to you as soon as the harvest begins.
How to store it
At room temperature, in a cool, dry place, it keeps for about a week; in the fridge, in the fruit drawer, for two to three weeks.

Shipping
We ship citrus every Monday and Tuesday, so the fruit we send is always freshly picked.
Delivery times depend on the destination and the courier. We ship with SDA or BRT, which usually deliver within 48-72h of dispatch.
Please note!
Between Black Friday and Christmas, deliveries may be delayed because couriers handle a very high volume of parcels. This is not a problem for our fruit: even if it spends 1-2 extra days in transit, freshly picked citrus stays fresh.
The citrus is shipped directly from our farm and picked by hand, to protect the delicate fruit.
