What types of Calabrian oranges are there?

Calabria mainly grows blond oranges such as Navel (Navelina and Washington Navel), late-season Valencia and the "San Giuseppe" oranges from the Reggio Calabria area (Belladonna and Biondo tardivo), as well as blood oranges such as Tarocco. In our orchards on the Sibari Plain we grow Navel oranges and Vanilla oranges. For the harvest periods of all our citrus fruits, see our citrus calendar.

When is Calabrian orange season?

Roughly from late November to April: Navel from late November to March, Vanilla from December to April. Exact dates depend on how the fruit ripens on the tree.

Both work well: Navel gives juice with a classic taste, between sweet and tangy, while Vanilla gives a sweeter, mellower juice. You'll find all our tips in our guide to the best oranges for juicing.

Where do your oranges come from?

From our citrus groves in the Sibari Plain, in Corigliano-Rossano, province of Cosenza. We pick them by hand only when an order arrives and apply no post-harvest treatments.
